REDONDO BEACH, Calif. – A motorist was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Redondo Beach caused by impaired driving, police said Tuesday.
Responding officers arrived at Rindge Lane and Artesia Boulevard around 6:40 p.m. Monday regarding a severe traffic collision, according to the Redondo Beach Police Department.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a female driver died at the scene, and the other driver was taken to a hospital and accused of driving while impaired, police said.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of relatives.
Police said the other motorist’s identity was being withheld due to the motorist’s current medical condition and the ongoing status of the investigation by the Redondo Beach Police Traffic Unit.
Police said the driver could be facing charges of felony vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated sometime this week.
Anyone with information about the crash was urged to contact Traffic Investigator Scot Martin at 310-379-2477, extension 3862, or [email protected].
