SAN DIEGO — A group of East Village residents are suing the city of San Diego and the San Diego Padres for having concerts at Gallagher Square outside of Petco Park.
The group, calling itself “Residents Concerned About Gallagher Square Noise,” filed a non-conformed Writ of Mandate with the court on September 13 alleging the concerts violate the city’s Municipal Code for noise levels and are not a permitted use.
According to the lawsuit, from July 1 to the time of the filing, the Padres booked ten concerts at Gallagher Square, with each show lasting past 10:00 p.m. or 11:00 p.m. at night.
Residents in the city of Inglewood living in gated communities adjacent to SoFi Stadium have similar complaints about the loud and excessive noise generated by concerts that tend to extend past the City’s 10:00 p.m. noise ordinance.
Inglewood updated the city’s noise ordinance to exempt the stadium from the noise ordinance in February 2015 when the city council approved the Hollywood Park initiative that gave the go-ahead to build the multi-billion dollar stadium.
The Inglewood mayor and council were gifted with tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions before they cast their votes.

Um.. being gifted tens of thousands of dollars before they voted is called “bribery” and in fact is illegal. Which seems to be the norm for Inglewood and it’s representatives
