LOS ANGELES – At least one person was injured in a shooting involving police in South Los Angeles Friday, but it was unclear what prompted the gunfire.
Police said the shooting occurred around 1:45 p.m. near 32nd Street and Central Avenue, just blocks from the LAPD’s Newton Station.
According to reports from the scene, one person was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, but was believed to be alive and undergoing surgery.
There were no immediate details on how many officers were involved in the shooting, or what led to the gunfire. Video from the scene showed what appeared to be one person being taken into custody by police.
