LOS ANGELES – A man was shot to death in a Valley Village homeless encampment Saturday.
Los Angeles Police Department patrol officers from the North Hollywood area responding to a death investigation report went to Cumpston Street at Tujunga Avenue, where they located an apparently dead man inside a tent at the encampment.
Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced the 38-year- old man dead. He was believed to have been a local man experiencing homelessness. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Narcotic paraphernalia was found at the scene, leading preliminary investigators to believe the incident may be overdose related. Subsequent investigation revealed that the victim had suffered a gunshot wound.
