Dear 2UrbanGirls,

Did you hear the GOOD news?

At last night’s school board meeting, they approved a new principal to replace Debbie Tate. The district announced she will be the Director of High School Redesign which could mean consolidation is on the horizon.

The new guy is from Texas. All I know is he is “Mr. Collins” and is from Texas. If you go to the district’s website you can’t access any of the accompanying documents from the board agenda but all we know is he’s supposed to start October 1.

Tate’s reign of terror and evil is about to be over for good. Praise the lawd!

IHS has had less than a 2% proficiency rate in math for the past few years. Yes!! Last year was 0% and the year before, 1%!! Umm, this is under Debbie’s instructional leadership or lack thereof. **The valedictorian from 2022 was accepted to UCLA and then said it “was too hard” but had over a 4.0 GPA. ***There were seven fights on campus yesterday (Friday)…
Now, you know it’s time for a new leader who has a positive sense of self, integrity, and leadership to take ova cuz “the icon” as some IUSD leadership has called Debbie is not IT! And moving her to the district office to cut up further was a bold, questionable move…so now she gets to f up stuff at central office level? Shame! Shame!… like the famous scene on GOT! Give blame where blame is due. In this case it’s on the person and the organization for allowing this woman to tear down rather than build up.

So are you saying Debbie Tate was made EVIL by City Honors?

Does anyone remember how the whole financial crisis got its begining?
One decision which foretold insolvency can be credited for a significant financial impact….City Honors
Yep designed for an exclusive few but requiring significant resources like dedicated for them only Principal, Staff, Counselors, Campus, and yes individual computers while the rest of our students did without computers or current textbooks!!!! And enrollment was restricted to only the creme de la creme
    students.!!
We were told Debra Tate was why they were doing well…hmmm… wait they did well before they got to City Honors…
So, so, so many dollars spent to make consultants and friends financially secure at the expense of students (those considered lesser and told they were not worthy enough for city honors) and homeowners who have funded architectural and consultant and attorney fees for schools that were never remodeled and are now closed… All because many thought colorful glossy campaign mailers were published by honest and truthful who cared about our community…..rather than those who expected financial reward once their candidate or issue recieved votes.

    • Are you blaming the wrong school? on September 15, 2023 8:18 pm

So, we are blaming City Honors for Tate’s “reign of terror”???? Gtfoh 😂

City Honors has never even had a real building…so what are we speaking about? Aren’t you glad IHS has a new, fresh, excited principal.

Let’s consider the first year was on a college campus where young impressionable 9th graders were interacting with young not yet self-disciplined college students. Oops someone forgot about a contract for use of space and insurance. THEN it was moved to Morningside but then the CH students were not to interact with their same age neighbors therby reinforcing their elitism. And then they moved to the no longer in use Opportunity High Campus which was renovated for them, and the to the remodeled Crozier Campus.
Again all the renovation, and accommodations were made for 300 which took resources away from the other non-elite thousands.
To say they had no real building is suggestioning the building is responsible for what learning does or does not take place. If that were true how is it that only 18% of students reach math proficiency at the completely Brand New La Tijera Campus.
        Buildings do not teach!!
With all the eliteness and special attention only 15% of City Honors were proficient in Math.

        • Never a HATER! on September 20, 2023 7:13 pm

You sound ignorant because this article is about IHS getting a new principal. What does CH have to do with IHS and their new admin. It sounds like HATERATION to me! Focus on the black and brown issues that occurred last week on that campus, the fact that their principal was called “evil” and a “tyrant”, and the fact that many staff members applauded the new selection. Focus on facts about IHS, not redirecting blame on another district-created non-comprehensive high school. The comment is simply redirecting blame or blame-shifting. I think most are happy that Tate is leaving. It has nothing to do with CITY HONORS. I’m not even sure how other schools are pulled into the conversation. I call BB: bullshit and blame shifting.
