INGLEWOOD, Calif. – A man who allegedly struck a person with his car in Torrance was charged Thursday with attempted murder.
Alphonso King, 47, of the Los Angeles area, was arrested Tuesday in Inglewood in connection with a warrant stemming from the attack, according to Sgt. Ron Salary of the Torrance Police Department.
The crime occurred July 29 near the 2200 block of 190th Street, according to Salary, who declined to release information on the gender of the alleged victim.
“The victim related that … an unknown suspect verbally threatened the victim,” the sergeant said in a statement. “The suspect then struck the victim with his car, causing life-threatening injuries to the victim.”
Torrance police detectives obtained an arrest warrant Aug. 3 for King, according to the sergeant.
King has remained behind bars since then, jail records show.
It was not immediately clear whether King had been arraigned on the charge.
