INGLEWOOD, Calif. (2UG) – Inglewood Unified School District’s Asset Management Advisory Committee will present a draft recommendation to the public on the fate of the property located in Inglewood’s Morningside Park neighborhood.
The committee will meet Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 5 p.m. in the district’s board room located at 401 S. Inglewood Ave. The public is encouraged to attend, in-person.
The committee has not released the draft for the public to view on the district’s website in an effort to keep the community in the dark, especially if residents from the area do not attend.
County Administrator Dr. James Morris has been highly visible in the community attending events with the City’s elected officials and has scheduled an appearance for the City Clerk’s podcast “Let’s Chat”. It’s unclear why City Clerk Aisha Thompson is holding chats that have nothing to do with the function of her office.
The agenda also includes addressing committee members’ concerns raised during the June 29 meeting, however, the district is concealing those comments from the public by not uploading meeting minutes since Nov. 2022.
The committee has scheduled four meetings since Nov. 2022 with two being cancelled.
Taxpayers deserve more transparency under Dr. James Morris but that’s impossible considering he has been co-opted by members of the Inglewood City Council.
Two weeks ago, the council presented Inglewood Unified with a check for $10,000 that was allegedly procured from donations from the community in conjunction with the Inglewood Music Festival.
The Aug. 9 city council agenda shows the donation is actually coming from taxpayers from the general fund.
