INGLEWOOD (2UrbanGirls) – The Inglewood Rental Housing Board held its first meeting on Aug. 15.
The agenda was light as the only items before board was an introduction of the staff, an outline of the boards functions, and the timeline to prepare materials for the meeting.
The meetings are held in-person at City Hall in Community Room A and are scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
A review of the Housing Ordinance indicates that homeowners who live on their property and have rental units can claim an exemption of payment of registration of fees.
SCENARIO
If you have a duplex where the owner lives in the front and rents out the back (or the reverse) you can apply for an exemption from the Housing Protection Department. The exemption prevents your tenant from not paying their rent if the property isn’t registered.
EXCLUSIONS
If a tenant lives in any of the newly built housing developments in the City, they are exempt from being covered under the city’s rent control ordinance per state law.
Should you wish to contact the Rental Housing Board and/or its staff you can send an email to [email protected].
