LOS ANGELES (2UG) – A pedestrian was killed on a freeway in downtown Los Angeles early Tuesday morning.
The crash happened around 5 a.m. at Alameda Street. It’s unclear exactly what caused it, but a pedestrian was struck and killed.
Their identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
There are a growing number of homeless encampments along freeways that Caltrans is not addressing.
It is not uncommon to see pedestrians walking along the shoulders of the freeways due to either living on the sides of them or in the underpasses.
Just saw someone climb INTO the freeway underpass 😳😳

Hi @CaltransDist7 this is the entrance to the 110 freeway S/B at Manchester. How can we get them #InsideSafe? pic.twitter.com/s8bvYj1Q5V

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass continues to tout the success of her Inside Safe program, aimed at getting the homeless off the streets, but it’s not scratching the surface when pedestrians continue to be killed on local freeways.
There needs to be coordination with outside agencies to address the issue adequately.
