INGLEWOOD (2UG) – The Urban Land Institute of Los Angeles invites you to come out and tour the historic changes happening in Downtown Inglewood along Market Street on June 8 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Attendees will tour the new 242-unit market-rate residential housing project Astra, and hear from its developer Thomas Safran.
Safran was granted control of parcels on the north end of Market Street that are slated to become affordable housing units in 2016.
The tour will continue south along Market Street and stop at the Nile Bar and the Miracle Theatre where attendees will hear from the theatre’s owners Owen Wilson and Ken Billups.
Billups is also a board member for the Inglewood Educational Foundation.
Billups and Wilson are also listed as owners of South Market Street Management LLC. It is believed they are spearheading their own “business district” to rival the Inglewood Airport Area Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber’s executive director reluctantly admitted on social media that the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Chargers, and Los Angeles Clippers are not members.
Other speakers included on the tour are Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts Jr., Councilman Eloy Morales, Chris Jackson, Director of Economic and Community Development for the city of Inglewood.
