LOS ANGELES – An American Airlines jetliner on a flight from Los Angeles International Airport to Boston returned to LAX Monday “due a possible mechanical issue” and landed safely, the airline reported.
The aircraft landed on runway 25-Right shortly before 8 a.m., and no injuries were reported, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“American Airlines flight 1632 with service from Los Angeles (LAX) to Boston (BOS) returned to LAX shortly after takeoff due to a possible mechanical issue,” the airline said in a statement to City News Service about 10:25 a.m.
“The flight landed safely and without incident, and American’s maintenance team is currently evaluating the aircraft,” the statement said. “We never want to disrupt our customers’ travel plans and apologize for the inconvenience.”
No other details were released by American Airlines.
According to Fox11, the flight had a scheduled departure time of 7 a.m. and was scheduled to land at Boston Logan International Airport at 3:42 p.m. Eastern time.
“FlightAware indicated Flight AA1632 transmitted a general emergency code and it was later reported the aircraft had a complete hydraulics failure,” Fox11 reported.
There was no immediate comment available from the Federal Aviation Administration.
