LANCASTER, Calif. – A man was arrested and suspected of gross vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated after he allegedly smashed into two other vehicles in a three-truck crash in Lancaster that killed one man and critically injured a woman, authorities said Wednesday.
Deputies from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station were called at around 9 p.m. Tuesday to the intersection of Avenue L at 20th Street West where they learned a red Chevy Silverado, a gray Subaru Forester and a Ram 3500 pickup were stopped at the intersection when the suspect, who was driving the Ram pickup, crashed into the back of the Subaru Forester, which pushed the Forester into the Chevy Silverado.
The Subaru was crushed between the two trucks, fatally injuring a man who was a passenger in the Forester, said Sgt. Michael Politano of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.
A woman who was driving the Subaru was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The driver and passengers of the other vehicles involved sustained minor injuries, Politano said.
Anyone with information regarding this collision was asked to call Lancaster Sheriff Station traffic investigators at 661-948-8466.
