LOS ANGELES – An 85-year-old man was struck and killed while crossing the street in the Adams-Normandie neighborhood of South Los Angeles, authorities said Monday.
The crash happened about 9:45 p.m. Sunday, according to a dispatcher at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center.
The pedestrian was crossing outside of the crosswalk when he was hit by the southbound vehicle, she said.
Paramedics took the pedestrian to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, she said.
The motorist remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, the dispatcher said.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
