SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car in a one-vehicle collision Wednesday in Santa Clarita.
California Highway Patrol officers responded at 4:52 a.m. to the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway and Lyons Avenue where they learned a white Ford had struck a pedestrian, according to CHP Officer Michael Nasir.
The man, whose name was not immediately known, was pronounced dead at the scene, Nasir said.
The CHP closed all lanes of the northbound freeway while officers conducted their investigation of the collision. Two lanes were reopened after about 90 minutes, and crews continued working to clear the scene.
