LOS ANGELES – A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a Metrolink train Monday afternoon in the Valley Glen area of Los Angeles.
This is the second person killed by a Metrolink train in the last week.
Firefighters responded to the scene in the 12700 block W Raymer St at 1:19 p.m. and found the pedestrian was struck by a train and pronounced dead at the scene.
“Sadly, they were killed on impact,” according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Nicholas Prange.
The fatally injured person, who was in a “non-pedestrian area,” was hit by train No. 109, which was westbound on the Ventura County Line, said Scott Johnson of Metrolink.
No one was injured aboard the train.
The tracks were closed in the area while an investigation was conducted, Johnson said.
On May 18, Jesus Acosta Lopez, 57, of Los Angeles died after he was trapped in his vehicle and was hit near Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Raymer Street.
The persons identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
