The Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation (LAPRF) presents the 2023 Twice a Citizen Awards on Saturday, May 6, at the Skirball Cultural Center in West Los Angeles. This is the evening when the LAPRF and community leaders unite to honor the hundreds of heroic and selfless Reserve Police Officers – citizens who donate their time throughout the year to protect and serve our great City. These volunteer officers receive the same training and are held to the same standards as their full-time LAPD counterparts – helping build a bridge to the community!
LAPD Chief of Police Michel Moore will join Fox 11’s Good Day LA’s host Araksya Karapetyan , KFI’s Mark Thompson, and Presidents of the LAPRF – Karla Ahmanson and Michael Sellars, to present additional Twice a Citizen Awards saluting two outstanding Angeleno couples. Former NBA superstar Norman Nixon and his wife, award-winning actress/producer/dancer/ choreographer Debbie Allen for their support of at-risk youth and community programs, including the Debbie Allen Dance Academy; plus, Uri and Myna Herscher, founder of the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, and avid supporters of community programs affecting at-risk youth, special needs children and their families. We are also honored to recognize two recently retired Reserve Officers, Eric Rose and Dave Bush, with the Andrea Friedman Award for their many years of service to our City.
In addition to honorees and hosts, we will be joined by multiple senior command staff and city dignitaries, including Assistant Chiefs Al Labrada and Robert Marino; Deputy Chiefs Marc Reina, Blake Chow and Dan Randolph; City Councilmember John Lee; and several hundred LAPD and Reserve Police Offices.
