Dear 2UrbanGirls,
To piggyback on another letter you received Inglewood school loses accreditation about Morningside High School losing its accreditation, and being placed on probation, here is a little more insight for the community to ponder.
It was mentioned at a meeting the other day that Morningside said they’d done teacher evaluations that they didn’t do. I’m sure there was more than that involved in the school losing its accreditation, but think about that: why would principal Kiwiana Cain, and her APs (assistant principals), lie about such a thing? That’s crazy.
Attached is IHS’ attendance for yesterday. It’s about 15 percent higher than normal for a usual Friday, as yesterday many seniors were gone to prepare for the prom. But we usually have at least 200 gone in just about every period of the day – especially during first and sixth periods.

That’s a quarter of the school!
But district officials have pushed relentlessly this spring for 95 percent of our students to have taken all standardized assessments, including the physical fitness test. We have literally received harassing emails every single day. We have nowhere near 95 percent attendance, so I don’t know how they think this is possible at the high school level. The only high school that has approached this in any way is, unsurprisingly, City Honors.
Aesthetically, the school has only been halfway upgraded. The only visible improvements is to the side facing Yukon Ave. where SoFi Stadium attendees park for events. If you travel east along 104th you see the district has done nothing with the remainder of the school.
If I were being petty I would assert there is intentional coordination to rid the school of students to justify closing them to build affordable housing on school property that the City is failing to due on their surplus land in favor of high-end developments that don’t benefit Inglewood taxpayers.
Desperate times.
Staff in the district – are burned out, tired, and just exhausted from the incompetence.

Is this what our $20 million loan was used for ?
The gurus at the State (Bradford) told us that non-local control would improve the education and bring fiscal responsibility…..oops the State and LACOE have earned a glaring F for failure or in the State evaluation system a glaring bright red! (Letter grades are so …esteem crushing you know).
There does not seem to be any doubt that that the Los Angeles County Office of Education and the State Representatives of the area have been functioning to keep our children in the lower class of our caste system to benefit a few developers and billionaires .
One does not even need to set a foot on what was the most beautiful High School Campus in the United States to see the people in charge have zero appreciation for our community. While Barley fields were the product that secured Daniel Freeman’s wealth when he owned the vast Rancho Del la Centinela, the open football, baseball fields of the campus should not have been such glorious reminders of that great past when education was considered among the priorities for the new community. Thes fields were left unmoved for nearly the entire school year..
As for academics – Holy Calamity! when we are paying a small fortune to outreach coordinator for new students to enroll how is is no one did anything to here is a novel concept actually TEACH the ones that did show up……Need a clear physical in your face example of misspending?
Why the ——-was education money given to the digital billboard company to promote anything when student learning aids ie textbooks are so woefully inadequate? How is it there is a fleet of busses that have NOT been used for field trips – not even to local museums (there are several) which offer local students free admission?
We constantly are told tax payers should pay more for the education yet the only place that money seems to be going is into contractors bank accounts.
It genuinely feels that for most of our elected both local and state,..prospering off the land through first neglect then sale is more important than teaching our children.
News flash even if they close our schools we are on the hook for 30 more years of property taxes voted in to repair buildings which will no longer have students in them…….
Side note here 2 of the current City Council members were entrusted with our education system that included no concern for 20 year old text books to closures during their oversight.
Let’s make certain to place blame on those who were elected to supervise those entrusted to prepare our children for prosperous careers.
Anyone else wondering why people believed that the campus that once enrolled (and taught well) 2000 students each year through the 60’s and 70’s was considered OVERCROWDED when officials wanted us to vote for a bond while only 500 were enrolled…….Does Ms Faulk Have an answer….and why is the engineer of the $20,000,0000 state loan which put us under receivership and state control silent regarding his responsibility for our children’s future? what has he been so focused on reparations he chose not to deal with his role in keeping some (our) children in the “not quite equal educationally” category? So much for equal education concept- Inglewood Unified created its own version of “better thans” with the City Honors program -a caste within the Inglewood schools oh so completely unequal! And they can’t figure out why students were driven elsewhere dah ? Please consider carefully in the next election do you really want someone who was mentored by Bradford replacing him when he is termed out?
We have be told some Creative misperceptions haven’t we? Who believes it was a carefully planned land grab ? Sadly this has been at the expense of a low-moderate minority community which will magically benefit campaign contributors of our elected while they keep the public, whom they should serve rather than Lordover, unaware.
