LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Police Department Tuesday released video of a collision in South Los Angeles that left a 20-year-old man riding a dirt bike dead.
The crash occurred around 3 p.m. Oct. 16 on 54th Street, near Cimarron Streets, according to the LAPD’s South Traffic Division.
The victim was riding a dirt bike eastbound on 54th Street behind a dark-colored sedan traveling in the same direction. The vehicle made an unsafe turning movement causing the victim to collide into the rear of the car. The victim was knocked off the dirt bike and struck the pavement, police said.
The car’s driver drove from the scene, police said.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took the victim to California Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
A reward of up to $50,000 is available from Los Angeles’ Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund for information leading to the identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise for drivers in fatal hit-and-runs.
