IRWINDALE, Calif. – A 33-year-old Baldwin Park man was arrested for allegedly killing a pedestrian with a vehicle in Irwindale.
The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the 5000 block of Azusa Canyon Road, according to Irwindale police and the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
Investigators found security footage that showed a dark-colored SUV hitting a man, then fleeing the area at a high rate of speed, Irwindale police Sgt. Diego Comejo said.
Irwindale police knocked at the door of a home on Azusa Canyon Road and the man who answered was later found to allegedly have been the driver involved in the fatal hit-and-run, Comejo said. John Shin was arrested and temporarily held on $50,000 bail.
Shin later posted bail and was released from jail. An SUV was towed from the house by police.
The deceased man’s name was not released and will be withheld pending notification of next of kin.
