LOS ANGELES – Police sought the public’s help Friday to find the driver who struck and killed a woman in a crosswalk in South Los Angeles, then fled.
A 48-year-old woman was walking east in the crosswalk on Western Avenue, just north of 43rd Street, around 10:10 p.m. last Friday when she was hit by a vehicle and knocked to the ground, police said. The driver momentarily stopped but failed to remain at scene and render aid to the victim as required by law. The vehicle fled northbound Western Avenue, according to police.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics and took the victim to a hospital where she died, police said.
The vehicle the suspect drove was described as a gold Toyota with a California license plate that read in part LDH. There was no suspect description available, police said.
A reward of up to $50,000 is available to the individuals with information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction in a hit-and-run case or resolution through a civil compromise.
