LOS ANGELES – A suspect wanted in connection with a stabbing at Los Angeles High School in the Mid-Wilshire area that left two students injured was identified Friday by authorities.
Danny Ramon Lopez Sanchez, 23, was arrested on Wednesday for attempted murder. He is being held in lieu of $1 million. Lopez-Sanchez was initially questioned and released on May 1, the day of the stabbing, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Further investigation led detectives to three additional male juveniles involved in the stabbing, police said. Two of the teenagers were booked on suspicion of attempted murder, and the other was booked on suspicion of accessory to attempted murder.
LAPD officers responded to the 4600 block of West Olympic Boulevard at around 4:25 p.m. on Monday to reports of victims who had sustained stab wounds, police said.
The male victims, ages 16 and 15, were taken to a hospital and were listed in stable condition. According to police, one of the victims is a student at Los Angeles High School. The other victim was not a student at the school.
Police said that several witnesses described what they thought was a fistfight between six to 10 people.
Two vehicles left the scene at the end of the fight in what detectives believed were a black Toyota and a red Cadillac.
