Former Congressional staffer Darryn Harris has announced the first round of endorsements from members of the Compton Unified School District Board of Trustees.
“I’m honored to announce a trio of endorsements from our Compton Unified School District Board of Trustees. Thank you to Board Members Satra Zurita, Alma Pleasant, and Micah Ali for your early support of our grassroots campaign to bring lasting progressive change to #SD35,” wrote Harris on social media.
Harris announced his bid to seek the seat currently occupied by Sen. Steve Bradford earlier this week.
Harris previously served as Bradford’s District Director while he was a member of the State Assembly. From there, Harris held various positions in the office of then Congresswoman Karen Bass rising to Chief of Staff before she was elected the first Black female Mayor of Los Angeles.
Senate District 35 includes the Los Angeles County communities of Carson, Compton, Gardena, Harbor City, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lennox, San Pedro, Torrance, Watts, Willowbrook, and Wilmington.
