Wow once again Thank You to 2 Urban Girls for posting this survey.
Sadly the IUSD county administration has gone out of its way to disenfranchise those who write the checks for the schools as part of our property tax bill every year.
Funny how that bill arrives by snail mail, but when they “want input”, if we are not 2 Urban girl readers we are not included in the survey!,!
What if only those who wrote property tax bill checks were sent the survey does anyone think renters who are parents would feel left out of the loop.?
As for the whole who wants to participate question – in light of the fact that those who attempted to attend the March board meeting were LOCKED OUT until outraged community members streamed that reality out to the community— the question seems insulting.
Add to that at a Worthington meeting when a community member asked questions she was told closing the school had no impact on community not her only parents and students……Really the Supervisor of the current county advisor doesn’t think community is impacted? hmmm then why should we be asked to pay salaries, construction costs, hire the students that can not multiply after 12 years of instructional years ????….Really not impacted? When the schools we have to look at look as if the state /county advisors have never seen a lawnmower and think the grass naturally will at sometime magically look mowed ? Really? not impacted by the car exhaust of the parents taking students to a district that teaches rather than warehouses?
Here’s a concept take a clue Dr Debra D ….and Supervisor Holly Mitchell when we speak locking us out or having staff tell us you don’t want to hear us and won’t make a meeting time available asking us to fake your survey to speak aka local “don’t cut it” or in appropriate paralance is significantly lacking in a multitude of ways. If you were marginally interested you migh “use the free Advertising option ” where the whole community has access maybe on the new Marques at every school yes even the closed ones you still have keys somewhere. Let us know where you will meet with the entire community, and parents of enrolled in your school students, and parents who take their kids elsewhere to learn and homeowners without kids who pay the bills…yes we have large auditoriums at least we have been paying for them, Oh and plan to sit with open ears rather than your dismissive tongue…plan to spend time longer than you talk listening..
Then maybe you may have a inkling what we think about your “management style”
Quick sum up : State and County control is pathetic. Too little concern for education and much took much concern finding ways to avoid us and closing our schools.
Under receivership bonds were passed to give construction company’s millions of our dollars and the promise to repair schools has become instead the destruction of our buildings and what was left of our educational system!!
There has been failure to increase enrollment/ failure to improve the quality of education/Failure to include Community/Failure manage our finances well. And Failure to adhere to the minimum civility of the Brown Act .
