INGLEWOOD (2UG) – A shooting has taken place at an Inglewood retail shopping center Wednesday afternoon.
Inglewood police have confirmed a shooting took place at the 3000 block of Manchester Blvd. in the parking lot of Big Lots.
Sources share the shooting was not random. The victim walked up to a car and got into an argument and was then shot in the stomach.
The victim was transported to Harbor General Hospital due to it being the closest trauma center.
The victim is described as a black male in his 40s.
When Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts suffered a near-fatal heart attack in Inglewood City Hall he noted he was taken to UCLA Medical Center because the event happened north of Manchester.
It is not known why this shooting victim wasn’t taken there as Big Lots is located north of Manchester as well.
The parking lot of Big Lots is also home to the Inglewood police department’s community center.

So how many think 228 condos serve our community better than former Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital Trauma Department did?
Let’s not forget it was a local church that chose to sell to developers after Tenet Health chose to dismantle the significant hospital which pioneered Paramedic Training?
Yes Inglewood WAS a wonderful community with neighbors who could count on a a great educational system, a library system with significant collections, a great shopping district, an incredible medical facilities.
Unfortunately our current elected have decided that entertaining tourists is more important than meeting community needs.
