INGLEWOOD (2UG) – The Inglewood Music Fest will now take place at Darby Park on June 24 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
It is not known why the venue was changed from being hosted at Lake Park at Hollywood Park despite the Special Events Application indicating Lake Park is city-owned property.
The all-day music fest was scheduled to charge an entrance fee but now that it has been moved to Darby Park it will be free to the public.
Event organizers initially estimated 5,000 would attend but the number was pared down to half of that amount.
To mitigate traffic concerns, attendees will park at SoFi Stadium and then board shuttles to Darby Park.
The event will also feature informational booths and food vendors and NO sales of alcohol.
The event was conditionally approved by the Permits & Licenses Committee pending review of a new site plan considering the venue was changed.
The event is expected to have moderate police presence and parking enforcement and it is unknown if taxpayers will foot the bill or the organizers.
The event is “presented by” the City of Inglewood and the city council.
The week before, on June 18, the Taste of Inglewood will host its first Juneteenth Festival on Market Street.
Here is the lineup.

I don’t think that it can be assumed that because the festival will be at Darby park, that it will be free. When there was a celebrity baseball game at Darby park that featured some of the Jackson 5, organizers charged people to get into the park, they literally didn’t let you in unless you paid. Even if you said you wanted to use the park for something else, they wouldn’t let you in, period.
We attended the Permits & Licenses Committee meeting yesterday where the application was conditionally approved and said it would be a free event. You can contact the city clerk’s office for the meeting minutes to confirm if you like.
