ANAHEIM, Calif. – A woman was fatally struck Saturday morning in Anaheim by a speeding SUV that fled from law enforcement, coming to rest on the front yards of several homes with the motorist fleeing on foot, authorities said.
Officers were dispatched about 1:20 a.m. to the 700 block of North East Street, after the Anaheim Police Department received a tip from the Placentia Police Department that a white BMW SUV had arrived in Anaheim after fleeing their city, Anaheim police Sgt. John McClintock said.
Officers at the scene reported the SUV had come to rest on the front yard of several residences and that the vehicle had struck a woman, McClintock said.
Paramedics rushed her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. An extensive search by the Placentia, Fullerton and Anaheim police departments turned up no suspects, he said.
The suspect who was behind the wheel of the SUV was described as a Hispanic man in dark clothing, he said.
The Anaheim Police Department urged anyone with any information regarding the crash and the suspect to call them at 714-765-1900 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227.
