LANCASTER, Calif. – A bicyclist who was struck and killed by a motorist in Lancaster was identified Friday.
The man was identified as 68-year-old Demetrio Luna Sanchez of Lancaster, according to the coroner’s office.
California Highway Patrol officers responded about 11:05 pm. Wednesday to the northbound Antelope Valley Freeway (14) north of Avenue D, which is Pearblossom Highway (138), where they found Sanchez, CHP Officer Patrick Kimball told City News Service. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses said he was lying on the right side of the freeway.
CHP officers closed all lanes of the freeway for several hours while they investigated the crash.
