SANTA ANA, Calif. – A 36-year-old convicted drunken driver pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 210 days in jail, or time already served behind bars awaiting trial, for assaulting a woman who followed her after a collision and suspected drunken driving with a child in the vehicle in La Habra.
Antonia Juliomorales pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence of alcohol, child abuse and endangerment, resisting arrest and hit-and-run with property damage, all misdemeanors. She was placed on five years of informal probation and ordered to participate in an 18-month- long multiple offender alcohol program and a treatment program for child abusers, according to court records. For one year, she will have an ignition interlock device on her vehicle to prevent driving under the influence.
Witnesses called police when they saw the property-damage collision about 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at Las Lomas Drive and Walnut Street, said La Habra Police Department Lt. Jose Rocha. They followed the car and as they tried to get Antonia Juliomorales to stop she bumped a person with her vehicle, Rocha said.
A boy was in Juliomorales’ car, according to court records. It was not known how the defendant was related to the boy, Rocha said.
Juliomorales was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in 2013, but the convictions were dismissed in 2017 after she completed terms of probation, according to court records.
