LOS ANGELES- One person was killed in a high-speed, fiery collision involving four vehicles that knocked down a freeway utility pole Wednesday near South Los Angeles.

California Highway Patrol officers were called at 2:02 a.m. to Crenshaw Boulevard and the westbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway where they found the victim in one of the freeway’s lanes and one vehicle engulfed in flames, CHP Officer Patrick Kimball told City News Service.
Witnesses told the CHP the vehicles were traveling at high speeds prior to the crash.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Freeway traffic was detoured to Crenshaw Boulevard.
The crash closed all lanes of the westbound 10 Freeway while the CHP conducted its investigation of the crash.
