The Disneyland Resort reimagined Mickey’s Toontown complete with new rides, food offerings, and swag as they welcomed guests back to the beloved land Mar. 19.
Imagineers worked around the clock to transform the space that originally opened over 30 years ago and guests will be excited to see how amazing the space has become.
“Guests have grown up with Toontown for thirty years and have fallen in love with it but we wanted to get it ready for the next generation,” said says Jeff Shaver-Moskowitz, Executive Producer of Mickey’s Toontown. “We’ve reimagined play in this space to make it more exciting but also more relaxing with the green spaces and places for families to have a picnic and the space encourages kids to slide, spin, and go into the houses which is designed for all ages to enjoy.”
With the addition of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, a good amount of the reimagined space focuses on the theme of the attraction which features Mickey and Minnie enjoying a picnic.
“We have the perfect setting and when we started the research we would go out with our kids to play spaces and museums and noticed kids love the open play areas so that was very important to incorporate here,” said Shaver-Moskowitz.
Guests will also experience the continuity of the overall theme of play spaces, picnics, and the Runaway Railroad in the new merchandise as well.
“Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway was an inspiration for our merchandise which brings life to the attraction,” said Efraín De Los Santos. “From the new conductor hat, which is so iconic, to introducing our new character Chuuby, guests will enjoy the new ears which are adaptable for all ages.”
Guests will also be able to enjoy favorite returning attractions like Mickey’s House, Minnie’s House, and Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin once again. Plus, the fun-sized attraction has transformed into Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster, where guests can go nuts on a coaster created by the resident tinkerer of Mickey’s Toontown, Gadget Hackwrench.
And of course, your visit wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Café Daisy for a flop over cheese pizza, sweet tea, and other tasty treats. Good Boy! Grocers farmers market stand offers grab-and-go drinks, snacks, and novelties that are perfect for a picnic in CenTOONial Park where families can gather and relax.
