SUN VALLEY, Calif. – Police sought public help Monday finding a motorist who fatally struck a bicyclist in Sun Valley and fled the scene.
The fatal collision occurred around 6:15 a.m. Friday, when the driver of a white-colored flatbed truck made a left turn onto Lankershim Boulevard from eastbound of Tuxford Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The bicyclist was traveling eastbound inside the north crosswalk on Lankershim Boulevard when he was struck by the flatbed, police said. The bicyclist fell onto the roadway and was struck by a second vehicle, a silver Volkswagen Jetta.
The Volkswagen driver stopped and remained at the scene until the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived, police said. The truck driver fled the scene and was last seen heading north on Lankershim, police said.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
