After reading this story Homeless people are the new enemy of the state and another in reference to homelessness in California this morning, I am beyond livid with all the responses and formulas that haven’t worked out and NOTHING gets done about it!
How about instead of building all these fancy new apartment complexes for billions of dollars, those same entrepreneurs invest their monies in adequate low-income, income-based housing, and senior housing? The government of the USA offers incentives for doing this, but people are too focused on GREED! We are not all movie stars here. Some of us live on retirement, Social Security, and other very limited incomes. How about some of these mayor’s, Governor’s and such experience living on a $1000 dollars a month income? To cover EVERYTHING!!
I moved to California at the request of a family member who is very involved in her community but currently single. No she doesn’t own a home, but coming from Florida I was all over the RV living experience. My RV which would need some work and would be waiting for me when I drove out from Florida. Almost $10,000 dollars on credit cards for the engine work, Licensing, and registration and I was ready. Little did I know that California hates RVers and RVs. I’m not allowed to park in a parking lot ( at the outer corners to be considerate of others) where I want to eat a meal or grocery shop. Security threatens to have me towed while I eat!!
It’s taken 6 months of having no less than 3 Sheriff’s Department Officers with hands-on tasers, to have them realize that it’s just me and my little dog, (who might lick you to death LOL) we are both friendly, I don’t do drugs much less sell them, I don’t drink, and am not a troublemaker. I do not have an arrest record of any kind! Why am I an enemy of the state of California????
FED UP!

I am with you in your frustration.
I have a DP Placard and I am allowed to park on the street. That doesn’t seem to have an impact on the seven parking tickets I’ve had dismissed in the last calendar year. Even so, security in lots won’t let me park to do laundry and shop as I did without an RV. Business are missing out on my patronage because I can’t be in the lot. That hurts everyone.
I get ‘love letters’ on my windshield from random people in the community which are so judgemental and unkind. The view must look very good from their apartments and million dollar condos. I used to enjoy my apartment view until my lease wasn’t renewed so they could the hike the rent up by over $1200+/mo to new tenants whose parents can afford it.
I count my blessings though. I know people who have been waiting for Section 8 housing for 11+ years! At least I’m not there … yet!
Bcuz all the snot nosed people of the community ur choosing to park in don’t want anyone dirtying their image. They feel like u bring their property value down and want u out and moved into some dirt field in Mojave away from the sights of the city bcuz ur just existing. 🙄
