With a personal motto of “developing young men into contributing citizens,” Tedric Johnson has lived by these words with thirty-plus years as a classroom teacher.
A former All-American football player and graduate of Oregon State University, Mr. Johnson began his teaching career in his hometown of Inglewood CA, at Monroe Middle School.
Later, Mr. Johnson taught at Morningside High School with the “Schools With a Purpose” program which focused on Black males.

Many of his students have proven to be successful after they graduated. Students constantly come back to see Mr. Johnson and emphasize how their lives changed because of his unwavering influence.
Mr. Johnson had an opportunity to sit down with one of his former students, Dominic Banks, on his show “On the Spot Podcast” where they discussed the impact his former teacher had on him.
Mr. Johnson currently teaches at Jonas Salk County Community School in Hawthorne, CA, and aspires to keep motivating as many students of color as possible.
