ANAHEIM, Calif. – A person fell asleep while driving and caused a horrific crash early this morning, according to authorities.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a female driver fell asleep behind the wheel which sent her car into the rear of a parked big rig.
Authorities responded to the scene at about 1:45 a.m. near the 91 freeway eastbound exit at Harbor Blvd.

A man was trapped in the wreckage and needed to be freed by firefighters using the jaws of life.
He was taken to a nearby hospital with major facial injuries. The woman declined medical treatment.
It is unknown if either alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
