Although he isn’t a member of the team Deion Sanders Jr.’s impact on the football program has been immediate since his father took over two months ago.

When it was announced Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders was bringing his “Louie” to Boulder it was the talk of the sports world for WEEKS. It was a no-brainer that his sons Shiloh and Shedeur would follow and his daughter Shelomi its become a Sanders Family Affair with Sanders Jr. providing behind-the-scenes footage to their combined millions of followers on their respective social media accounts.
Whether its Coach Prime working out in his office, giving facility tours to Lil Wayne, or a close-up of the team’s cafeteria featuring mouth-watering steaks, potatoes, and all the accouterments on the side, Sanders Jr. is giving viewers, and more importantly, future prospects an up close and personal view of life in Boulder one video at a time.
The stats are amazing.
- Subscriptions to Sanders Jr.’s YouTube channel, Well Off Media, have rocketed to about 250,000, up from about 80,000 in late November, when Sanders Sr. was head coach at Jackson State in Mississippi. One video of their first team meeting at Colorado in December has been viewed 4.2 million times.
- The total aggregate following for the Colorado football program’s individual and team social media accounts also has increased by 500% since Sanders’ hiring at CU in early December, said Jim Cavale, founder of INFLCR, a content software platform used by athletes to build their social media presence.
- The number of businesses and other registrants that are looking to pay Colorado football players for the use of their names, images and likenesses (NIL) has increased 258% since Sanders’ arrival, according to Cavale, whose company helped launch the Buffs NIL Exchange last year.
Sanders Jr. recently sat down for his OWN interview with USA Today to tout how his success behind the camera impacts the team’s recruitment on behalf of his father.
“Ninety-nine percent of them [recruits] told me, ‘Hey man, we watch the videos every day,’” Sanders Jr. said in an interview with USA TODAY Sports. “You could have the best product on Earth, but if people don’t know about it, you’re not going to sell it. It’s showing how good of a product it is. It’s showing how great Boulder actually is.”
One thing he makes clear is he works for himself alongside his partner, his father.
