Maybe we were wrong all along and maybe just maybe the biggest impediment to California’s homeless problem is the Governor himself, Gavin Newsom.
Although he speaks grand words of boldness and action in ending California’s chronic homeless crisis I offer that it’s the Governor’s thinly veiled pursuit for higher office that prevents him from doing the “heavy” lifting so to speak in solving a third world type crisis.
We are better than this and finally an adult in the room has finally spoken up by way of famed clinical psychologist, Drew Pinsky who lambasted the handsome ambitious Governor for his “disconnect” so to speak to the severity of California’s housing crisis and the response and lack of response to a crisis that many argue with good reasoning has spiraled beyond manageability into complete lawlessness and chaos.
We demand better leadership! @hollyjmitchell wants to normalize this condition. Unincorporated LA County needs their own leadership @LACountyBOS not equipped to address the issues on our behalf @GavinNewsom @CAgovernor https://t.co/VeDdkMeEG1

I encourage readers to drive around Los Angeles and if our homeless crisis is a product of the most liberal or progressive state in our union, as Governor Newsom likes to often boast, then can I ask why a state such as California, with the sixth largest economy in the world, struggles so mightily in dealing with its homeless issues?
The resources are clearly available but it appears that the more money we throw at our homeless problem the worse it seems to get two common themes should be pointed out as we’ve worked collectively hard for years in dedicating funds and resources to this problem and it appears to me the funding and resources meant to help out most vulnerable population never seem to benefit those i need.
As these funds have been documented by your publication and others are subject to abuse and/or mismanagement and secondly, the same usual suspects charged to end homelessness never change and hence you have a failed system known as the “Homeless Industrial Complex”.
If California with all its ingenuity and resources can’t solve the cruel “sin” of homelessness then it’s time for Governor Newsom to shelve his overtly clandestine campaign for the President of the United States.
Why?
Because if Newsom can’t take care of home then he definitely shouldn’t be asserting himself as the so-called “beacon of light” or the defacto leader in waiting of the Democratic party because his grand words and actual results leave a lot to be desired.
I mean think about the hypocrisy of California and its messaging.
We tout ourselves as a state that after the Supreme Court ruling basically outlawed abortions California stood tall and proudly proclaimed in essence, we are open 24/ 7 for abortions but if you’re homeless you’re pretty much on your own.
This isn’t science and maybe we’ve collectively, foolishly, and naively, believed for far too long that the people that manufactured this problem for financial incentives have any real motivation to fix our crisis as we all know poverty is a profitable business.
We don’t need politicians we need a “Waiting for Superman” type moment in homage to the 2010 movie.
