SANTA ANA, Calif. – A Koran studies volunteer at a Santa Ana mosque pleaded guilty Friday and was immediately sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting three girls.
Ahmad Henry Osman, 60, of Tustin, molested two girls in their home on Feb. 25, 2015, under the pretense of religious studies, prosecutors said.
Another parent who heard about Osman’s arrest in February 2015 approached investigators to report their 7-year-old daughter was molested at the Indo Chinese Islamic Center in Santa Ana, police said.
As a volunteer at the center, Osman would help with Koran studies when educational staffers were unavailable, according to Imam Abdullah Ahmed. The members of the mosque were shocked to hear of his arrest, Ahmed said in 2015.
Osman, who detectives characterized as a youth program educator, taught children mainly on weekends and evenings and was associated with the mosque for more than 20 years, police said.
Osman pleaded guilty to seven counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor younger than 14 and a count of oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child 10 or younger, all felonies.
Osman accepted a plea deal from Orange County Superior Court Judge Scott Steiner. He was given credit for 3,328 days in jail and was ordered to register as a sex offender.

Regarding story:”Man pleads guilty to molesting three girls in OC”.
Some very vague details are given regarding the timeline of his crimes that apparently started in 2015 and winds up the article with say he received jail credit for some 3000+ days already served. At no point does the article mention he had been previously charged, tried and jailed for any of this. Very confusing, imo.
