INGLEWOOD, Calif. (2UrbanGirls)- Inglewood Mayor James Butts sent out a late-night email on Jan. 12 alerting staff that Police Chief Mark Fronterotta has been hospitalized.
“Chief of Police Mark Fronterotta has been hospitalized for a serious condition of unknown origin or causation,” wrote Butts. “He is in ICU and can’t receive calls or visitors at this time.”
Fronterotta was appointed as the Chief of Police of the Inglewood Police Department on January 23, 2013. He has been with the department since 1981.
The email sent at 7:19 p.m. explained Cpt. Cardell Hurt will serve as Acting Chief of Police in the interim.

Mayor Butts has sent the following update to staff.
The Chief suffered an “intracranial hemorrhage of unknown origin. As of an hour ago he is alert speaking and allowed to eat. His prognosis is good. He has undergone a battery of tests all of which gave positive results….”
It is not known at this time if Fronterotta intends to return back to work.
