WHITTIER, Calif. – A Superior Court judge denied a request to issue a permanent restraining order against Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts Jr. in an ongoing dispute between him and his ex-aide Melanie McDade.
As expected, Butts took the stand to deny all claims lodged against him by McDade.
Observers in the courtroom shared the mayor appeared to have stretched the truth while under oath.
Butts testified to not knowing how to use the “like” button on social media despite McDade presenting evidence to the contrary to the court and his extensive history of commenting and posting across multiple platforms.
Butts also testified that he “believed they were still in a relationship a year after she broke it off” to justify his popping up at her home and entering whenever he wanted.
In the end, the judge ruled that a permanent restraining order wouldn’t be granted.
