MAYWOOD, Calif. – A deputy shot and killed a man Thursday in Maywood, authorities said.
The shooting occurred about 5:45 a.m. in the 6100 block of Clarkson Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
“The male adult suspect was struck by gunfire and pronounced deceased on scene,” a sheriff’s department statement said.
Information on the identity of the man was not immediately available.
The circumstances of the shooting were under investigation.
This is the second person killed by deputies in the last week after a man wielding a knife was shot in Altandena on Jan. 22.
