LOS ANGELES – A Baldwin Hills department was reportedly robbed Sunday evening.
Users on the Citizen App reported a jewelry theft at the Macy’s located at the Baldwin Crenshaw Mall.
It was also reported shots were fired. Authorities reported two suspects were last seen driving in the area of Marlton Ave. and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd in a silver four-door Lexus.
It is unknown if the suspects were taken into custody.
The land where Macy’s is was recently sold to developers and the store is scheduled to close later this month.
A statement from a Macy’s spokesperson read in part – “We are grateful to have served our customers in the Baldwin Hills and Crenshaw communities during the past 75 years and look forward to continuing to do so at nearby Macy’s stores.”
This coincides with the recent sale of the adjacent mall which will soon be developed into housing, retail, office space, and a hotel.

Harridge Development Group, the Los Angeles-based real estate firm which purchased the mid-century shopping center at Crenshaw and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevards, released a statement saying that no immediate changes are slated for the property and that the mall would remain in operation during the course of any future construction.
“We have a long history of successful real estate development in the City of Los Angeles, and look forward to working alongside community-based groups, neighborhood associations, civil rights organizations, merchants, neighboring property owners, businesses, and local government leaders to implement a successful reinvigoration of the Property with the mall remaining as its center,” said Harridge chief executive officer David Schwartzman.
