INGLEWOOD, Calif. – An Inglewood motel caught fire on Christmas Day that is located near the border of Hawthorne.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to 3702 W. Imperial Hwy which is home to the Encore Motel at approx. 5:00 p.m.
Firefighters and personnel from Inglewood Police Department remained on the scene to extinguish the fire and ensure the safety of many residents who reside at the motel an hour after the fire was first reported.
With the rising cost of rent, many residents live in area motels paying either a monthly or weekly rate that is exempt from Transient Occupancy Taxes (TOT) after they have lived in the same room for over 30 days per the Inglewood Municipal Code.
Former Inglewood Councilman Ralph Franklin took issue with the motel owners allowing residents to live on-site while the City was gearing up for the return of the NFL.
There are no reports of any residents being injured.
