LOS ANGELES – A 72-year-old man was taken into custody Sunday after he allegedly shot and wounded a man suspected of trying to rob him.
The altercation occurred at about 1:15 p.m. in the 2000 block of East 105th Street, according to a dispatcher at the Los Angeles Police department’s Operations Center.
A 40-year-old man approached the older man and demanded money, the dispatcher said. The 72-year-old man produced a handgun and fired once, striking the alleged robber.
Paramedics took the wounded man to a hospital, where his condition was not available, the dispatcher said.
Officers took the gunman into custody, she said.

WHY IS THE ELDERLY MAN ARRESTED! That’s JUST WRONG!!! I have a conceal and carry and I would’ve used it & shot the despicable jerk thief robber too. What a waste of time arresting this poor old man! Been through enough trauma?! my God!
The old man defending himself against the rubber, why is he arested.
Does he suppose to wait for the rubber to kill him before he defend himself.
