LONG BEACH, Calif. – A man on a bicycle suffered critical injuries this morning when he collided with a Metro train in Long Beach, authorities said.
The crash occurred at about 11:15 a.m. at Spring Street and Del Mar Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
A preliminary investigation indicated the bicyclist rode westbound on Spring Street around lowered railroad crossing arms into the path of the southbound train, police said. Paramedics took him to a hospital.
Spring Street was closed between Pacific Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard for the investigation, police said.
