INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Former NBA star Byron Scott will host a fundraiser and donation drive in conjunction with the DPCC/EYSM Foundation on Dec. 19 at Inglewood’s Darby Park.
Scott grew up in Inglewood and is an alum of Morningside High School where he was a star basketball player who then went on to play for Arizona State University. He was drafted in the first round, fourth overall, by the San Diego Clippers in 1983. He was traded to the Lakers in exchange for Norm Nixon.
He then went on to play for a decade for the Los Angeles Lakers during the ‘Showtime’ era alongside NBA legends Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, and Michael Cooper.
The event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Darby Park is located at 3400 W. Arbor Vitae Street.
