INGLEWOOD, Calif. – A baby’s body has been found in the city of Long Beach.
ABC7 is reporting the baby girl, identified by her family as Leilani Dream Burley, 1, was found in shallow water in the Long Beach area.
Jayveyon Burley, 22, was being held in lieu of $215,000 bail, according to county jail records, following his arrest Monday by Inglewood police.
The mother of Burley’s children, Lynisha Hull, told ABC7 Tuesday that the suspect normally picks up the children on Sunday nights and brings them back on Wednesday. She said Burley was “angry” when he picked up the children on Sunday, but “he was normal.”
“He didn’t look like he was panicked at the time at all,” she told the station.
“My daughter was murdered by her father,” Hull said. “He threw her off the bridge.”
On Sunday, Dec. 4 around 10:44 p.m. Inglewood officers responded to a call of an at-risk missing person in the 300 block of North Market Street.
The baby’s grandmother said Burley picked up his two children in Long Beach, and returned to their Inglewood home with just one.
According to Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts, the investigation began immediately.
He is facing murder, and child endangerment charges.
The mayor announced the charges during the city council meeting held Dec. 5.
