HOUSTON – A member of the rap group Migos was shot to death in Houston while attending a private party at a bowling alley.
The 28-year-old rapper, whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball, was in Texas alongside his uncle and rapper Quavo for Halloween. Police were called to a shooting at a bowling alley around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to Houston NBC affiliate KPRC.
“Officers said when they arrived at the scene, they located a large crowd and a man with a gunshot wound to the head or neck. The man was pronounced dead at the scene,” HPD told NBC affiliate KPRC.
According to HPD Lt. Salazar, 40 to 50 people were at the location when the shooting took place. The party reportedly ended at 1 a.m. but carried over until the incident occurred. Investigators said they found multiple shell casings on the third level outside the bowling and pool hall.
TMZ reported the rappers were allegedly playing dice with a group of other people when a fight broke out and someone opened fire.
Two additional victims were taken to nearby hospitals in private vehicles in unknown condition, HPD said.
Takeoff was born in Lawrenceville, Georgia, in 1994. He began rapping with Quavo and Offset, his uncle and cousin, respectively, in 2008 under the collective name Polo Club.
In 2013, Migos released Versace, their first mainstream hit.
Migos are best known for their 2016 Lil Uzi Vert collaboration Bad and Boujee, which peaked at No 1 in the US, as well as Top 10 hits MotorSport, with Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, and Walk It Talk It, with Drake.
As a solo artist, Takeoff released one album – 2018’s The Last Rocket, which debuted at No 4 in the US.
Weeks ago, Quavo and Takeoff, 28, released their debut “Only Built for Infinity Links,” without the third Migos member, Offset.
