Inglewood native Rebecca Gomez, better known as Becky G, shined on the red carpet for the 23rd Annual Latin Grammy Awards held Nov. 17 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 25-year-old singer was joined at the ceremony by her hunky soccer star boyfriend Sebastian Lletget.
Becky was up for many of the top awards, including Record of the Year for Pa Mis Muchachas, her collaboration with Christina Aguilera and Nicki Nicole, which features Nathy Peluso.
She’s among those credited on Christina’s album Aguilera, though she’s not listed as a nominee for Album of the Year.
Becky was also up for Song of the Year for Pa Mis Muchchas. The Record of the Year award is given out to performers, while Song of the Year is intended for songwriters, so she is eligible in both categories.
She was also nominated for Best Urban Fusion/Performance for the same single and Best Urban Song for her Carol G collaboration MAMIII.
Becky released her second studio album, Esquemas, in May. Since then, it has reached the top of Billboard’s Latin Pop chart and has been certified 3x platinum.
Becky always shows love to the city of Inglewood regularly participating in the city’s signature events: the Hispanic Heritage Festival and the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Becky G unveiled a song, “Green Light Go,” that shines a spotlight on her hometown.
The video takes place in and around the Los Angeles suburb, and heavily showcases the urbano star’s street style and dance moves. Becky also references her Mexican heritage in the song’s lyrics: “La cabra, they call me the GOAT/On my mama, I will never fold/Just in case you didn’t know/I do this shit for México.”
“‘Green Light Go’ to me represents not taking no for an answer, making my own path and giving myself my own green lights,” she said of the new single in a press statement. “I am a proud Mexican-American, concrete rose, born and raised in the streets of LA. ‘I’m on my Green light go.’ Let’s go.”
