Saturday Night Live staffers are boycotting the show’s decision to allow Dave Chappelle to host the show this Saturday.
The writers are alleged to be outraged over his hosting due to his Netflix standup ‘The Closer’ and his history of making transphobic and homophobic jokes.
“They’re not going to do the show,” an insider told Page Six. “But none of the actors are boycotting.”
But according to Chappelle’s rep there was nothing to suggest that there was a boycott when they attended writers’ meetings this week.
Chapelle was at 30 Rock on Tuesday where he met with both writers and producers to hear ideas. The comedian’s rep told Page Six: ‘The room was full of writers.
‘They all pitched ideas and they seemed very excited about it…. Dave is looking to have some fun,’ they added.
“SNL” revealed last week the “Chappelle Show” star would host the show with musical guest Black Star on Nov. 12. It’ll be Chappelle’s third time as host.
Ratings for SNL continue to decline week after week and with Dave Chappelle preparing to tour with Chris Rock, this is definitely a way to drum up viewers.
