LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE, Calif. – Authorities Tuesday identified a man who was killed when he was struck by a truck on a roadway next to the Foothill (210) Freeway in La Canada Flintridge.
The death was reported at 10:14 a.m. Saturday when a witness told the California Highway Patrol that a person was lying in the slow lane of southbound Ocean View Boulevard next to the freeway off-ramp.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office identified Jesse Villarreal, 22, the victim who was fatally struck by the truck.
Villarreal reportedly ran into the street into the path of the truck, CHP Officer Stephan Brandt said. The truck driver remained at the scene.
The type of truck was not available, Brandt said. The CHP was investigating the fatality since it was in an unincorporated area.
The coroner’s office said Villarreal died of blunt force traumatic injuries.
